Music for the opening of artist Larry Stark, ” in by 10: Art by 5″

Larry Stark, conceptual artist and printmaker, has committed himself to a lifelong role as an artist. His work observes both the beauty and homogenization of the American landscape. Highways, bridges, barges, landscapes, maps, people, fish, and even spam emails have been the center of Larry’s work.

Artists Reception | June 24, 2022 from 5-8 p.m.

Grab a drink at our lobby bar and join us for an evening of artfull conversations. This event is free, however you must reserve a ticket to attend.

I really like making my visual scores. But realized that the paper I am using is too small! Doing revisions- on much larger paper ! going for 11″x14″, 16″x 20″, and possibly larger . These will be framed, and exhibited somewhere, and performed by live musicians ! There are a few possible galleries for this. This bold step is what I need to do ! Here are a few I did this week….

Hidden Fox Chordal: premiered by cellist Aaron Kerr on September 17, 2021. The Oration will be on another frame. For any performer who can invent using chords… start at top left, work your way down and across, then up. Play a few pitches from each chord… ( not the whole thing !)… vary the phrase length, like a fox going ziggity zag as they trot across a field, looking for mice, or eggs, or what not.. maybe your shoe !

Sensitive Storms…. has not yet been premiered. For at least two instruments: one of them could be percussion.: or one player plays the bottom right quarter percussively ! The other clefs…. open to performer(s). It is to have a bit of frightfulness and wonder. Yes, On May 24, 1958, there was a tornado in St. Paul MN area. At 9:48. I chose to enter the world of air and land and birds and fish and mom and dad and brothers and…. all the other things.
A new Score. ” Happy Ghosts”…. for Albert Ayler. WInds, strings, percussion.
” You are seeing birds” Premiere Sept 17th 2021. This is a revision/enlargement of the original. String Quartet, with two cellos/two violins, and orations. Cellos are to be played like banjos. Full text will be included in another large paper.
